Martin Vermaak BProc LLB Dipl. Personnel Management Dipl. Industrial Relations
Martin is a Director of Martin Vermaak Attorneys and has full responsibilities for the management of the Firm's offices in Sandton and Pretoria. In addition to being a busy Litigation Attorney, Martin is responsible, together with the Firm's Senior Management, for deciding and implementing strategies to ensure the continued growth of the Firm.
As a Specialist Family Lawyer, Martin has assisted many high profile private clients with their divorce and family matters. He is sometimes quoted in the National Press, and interviewed on Radio, regarding this particular field of law - in which he is a leading Specialist Attorney.
He has a strong forensic investigation background and also assists companies with their legal matters ranging from forensic investigations, labour issues, drafting of contracts, evictions and other commercial matters.
Admitted as an Advocate in 2001, he then started practicing as an Attorney in 2004 and has the Right of Appearance in the High Court.
Martin holds the following qualifications: B.Proc, LLB, Diploma Personnel Management, Diploma Industrial Relations.
Aleisha Singh BCom LLB (Cum Laude)
Aleisha completed her Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws (cum laude) at the University of Witwatersrand. After that she articled with a veteran specialist in family law work and was admitted to the Bar and obtained her right of appearance in Superior Courts in July 2013. She moved to Martin Vermaak Attorneys in November 2015.
During her years as a Candidate and an Admitted Attorney, she gained significant exposure to various fields of law including: child law, domestic violence, divorce and post-divorce litigation, mediation, motor vehicle litigation, estate litigation, landlord & tenant litigation, drafting and advising on contractual matters, civil litigation, and debt collection.
She is currently completing the requirements to be admitted to the Roll of Solicitors and Barristers in order to have a dual qualification in England and Wales. LLB (Cum Laude)
Michelle Soutter LLB
Michelle commenced her studies at the North-West University Potchefstroom Campus in 2008 where she completed her LLB degree in 2011.
After serving two years of articles, she passed all the requested board exams she was admitted as an Attorney on 30 January 2014. During her years as a Candidate and an Admitted Attorney she gained exposure to various fields of law including: child law, domestic violence, divorce and post-divorce litigation, mediation, road accident fund matters, civil litigation.
On 16 April 2014 Michelle also obtained her Right of Appearance in Superior Courts.
She is currently attending the University of Johannesburg for a short learning programme in Company Law which she intends to put to good use in Commercial Law in the very near future.
Aurelia Singh LLB
Aurelia completed her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Howard College Campus in Durban. During her articles and as an Admitted Attorney she gained extensive experience in Divorces, Children’s Court, Maintenance Court, Domestic Violence, Debt Collection, Evictions, Labour Law and Road Accident Fund law.
She has, over the past 3 years, been a frequent guest on SAfm providing legal advice relating to Rental Law.
She is an admitted Attorney and has her right of appearance in the High Court of South Africa and belongs to both the Law Society of the Northern Provinces as well as the Law Society of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
She became of the legal team at the Law Firm of Martin Vermaak Attorneys in June 2017.
Kylen Ghirao LLB
Kyen Ghirao completed his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Witwatersrand. In 2014, he obtained a Dean’s Pass with an average of 70% and above. He served on the Law Students Council and Student Disciplinary Council between 2013 and 2014.
During his years as a Candidate Attorney and an Admitted Attorney he gained valuable knowledge and has been exposed to quite a comprehensive list of various fields of law including: Child Law, Domestic Violence, Divorce and post-Divorce Litigation, Mediation, Contractual Disputes, Commercial Disputes, Civil Litigation, Pre and Post Collection matters and Criminal matters.
He is part of the legal team of Martin Vermaak Attorneys as a Practicing Attorney and has obtained his right of appearance in Superior Courts.
Bradley Cullingworth Candidate Attorney
Bradley Cullingworth is our longest standing Candidate Attorney working at Martin Vermaak Attorneys. By day he is a Candidate Attorney and by night he is an aspiring student at UNISA looking to complete his final semester of his LLB.
Bradley has always had the argumentative streak and a passion to assist people. He decided that Law emphasises these two strengths and allows him to take on new challenges everyday which in the end allows him not only to do something he loves but also allows him to practice growing as a person and as an Attorney.
Bradley is strong willed and is dedicated to learning all the fields of law that are practised by the Firm of Martin Vermaak Attorneys.
Roüa Pienaar Candidate Attorney LLB LLM
Roüa commenced her studies at the North-West University’s Potchefstroom Campus in 2011 where she completed her Bcom Law Degree (Cum Laude) in 2014 as well as her LLB Degree in 2016. In 2017 she completed her LLM (Masters in Estate Law), where she was awarded the prize for “Best Student” in her specific Master’s field.
During her university days she was a member of her Residence House Committee as well as a Representative on the Executive Committee for the Student Council with the Portfolio Community Service.
She is currently busy serving her second year of articles, where after she plans on becoming a specialist in the field of Estate Law.
Duncan O’Connor Candidate Attorney LLB
Duncan O’Connor completed his LLB degree through UNISA in June 2017 and is now serving as a Candidate Attorney at Martin Vermaak Attorneys in Bryanston.
Since the day he embarked on his studies, he felt drawn by his passion to assist others, towards the area of Family Law. This is due to his strong desire to make a difference in the lives of those he has the opportunity to work with.
Through his life time he has grown up with a charitable background, whether it was helping his father with fundraisers for the Teddy Bear Clinic, the less abled at the Anne Harding Cheshire Homes, or just getting involved with the Community.
Although he has only just gotten his law career off the ground, he remains loyal and committed to the desires that got him through his law degree. In saying that, he desires experience and growth in this area of law to truly help those that are stuck in situations in which they feel they have nowhere left to go, and build them up again.
